The economic embargo laid upon Zamzam camp by the local authorities is still ongoing. With the renewed fighting that started in December the number of displaced people reaching Zamzam camp grew significantly and Zamzam camp currently hosts more than 170 thousand displaced people. The economic embargo laid upon Zamzam camp is preventing rations and basic goods coming from El Fasher to enter the camp along with fuel for the operation of water plants and mills. An activist in the camp told Radio Dabanga that authorities, after 7 days of drought, approved one organization to restart 8 water pumps at the camp by allowing to bring in gasoline to run the pumps. The activist explained that the entry of goods and basic supplies into the camp, is still prohibited and described the situation in the camp as very difficult.
