Five killed, two injured in Darfur shootings
Five people were killed, and two were injured in separate incidents in South and North Darfur on Sunday.
A listener reported to Radio Dabanga that five men were shot dead in South Darfur’s El Radoom locality.
“Early on Sunday morning, a group of armed men had stolen hundreds of cows in the area of Telehoon. The owners and their relatives formed a search team, that found the cattle not much later. In the ensuing gunfight, three of the rustlers and two members of the search team were killed.”
In Wadi Domaya, west of the south Darfur capital Nyala, a group of gunmen opened fire on three people. “Mohamed Fadil Hamed sustained serious bullet wounds and was transferred to a hospital in Nyala. The attackers robbed him and us of their money and belongings,” one of the victims told this station.
On Sunday evening, militiamen riding camels raided the village of Um Direisaya, west of Shangil Tobaya in North Darfur.
“They fired into the air before they stole our money, belongings, and a number of livestock,” a villager said. “Ibrahim Abdelghani Abakar, student at the University of Khartoum, was hit by a stray bullet, and was taken to El Fasher Hospital.”
