Fighting between government and rebels east of Jebel Marra

Violent clashes broke out yesterday between the government and rebel forces in the area of Fina, east of Jebel Mara, according to Ahmed Kardally Eid, a field commander in Abdel Wahid’s faction The rebel commander said that he represented Arab tribes within Abdel Wahid’s faction. He told Radio Dabanga that the Sudanese government, backed by militias, started attacking the area of Fina. He stated that the attacks started yesterday afternoon. He affirmed that the armed rebel forces repelled the attacks. Radio Dabanga could not reach the army for comments.
