Herders drove their livestock onto farms in the area south of Tabit in North Darfur on Friday. Gunmen assaulted a farmer near Dali village when he attempted to drive off livestock grazing his crops.

A farmer from the area told Radio Dabanga that his colleague Ahmed Yagoub was beaten by a group of gunmen after herders released their livestock onto his farm.

“We found him badly injured on his land,” he said.

The farmer reported that militant herdsmen drove their cattle and camels onto farms near the villages of Dali, Nemra, Saby, Keira, and Masalit in the southern part of El Fasher locality, locally considered part of East Jebel Marra. “Many crops have already been destroyed.”

He called on the local authorities to “clearly define lands for pastures so that we will not lose more crops”.
