Displaced farmer slain in Gireida, South Darfur

A resident of El Salam camp for the displaced in Gireida locality was shot dead on his farm on Sunday.
Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a witness reported that four herders drove their cattle into the farm of Ali Ahmed Eisa in the area of Hashaba, west of Gireida town.
“When he tried to chase them off his land, the herders started shooting. He died instantly.”
The herders then seized his horse and cart, and fled.
“Other farmers and I rushed to the camp to inform Eisa’s relatives,” the source said. “They formed a search team and went to the police post in the neighbourhood to report the murder. The policemen however refused to accompany the team to retrieve the body, and track-down the killers.”
