Displaced child, adult shot dead in Zalingei, Central Darfur

A displaced man and a 12-year-old child have died in two separate shooting incidents on Monday and Tuesday at a Zalingei camp in Central Darfur state. The coordinator of the camps for the displaced at Zalingei told Radio Dabanga that the child, Ahmed Musa Adam, was killed outright on Monday when pro-government militiamen allegedly opened fire inside the camp. The coordinator says that a report was filed with the police, but they have apparently “not moved to track down and arrest the perpetrators”. On Tuesday, Abdullah Osman was tending his farm near to the camp when he was shot dead and robbed, allegedly by pro-government militiamen. The coordinator called on Unamid to “play its role in the protection of displaced persons,” pointing at an increase in incidents of this nature.
