One person died in Nyala and three others were injured when heavy rains hit the city and large parts of South Darfur this week.

According to Salah El Mubarak, the director of the Emergency Health Department, 180 houses were completely destroyed at El Wehda district south of Nyala, while 410 homes were partially damaged.

Yesterday morning Halima Ibrahim (35) and Abdelnabi Eisa (48), were wounded by gunfire by armed herders near Kor village, 10 kilometres north of El Malam in South Darfur.

Relatives of the wounded told Radio Dabanga that five armed herders on horses and camels shot Ibrahim and Eisa while they were collecting firewood near the village of Kor on Tuesday morning.

Eisa suffered a fractured leg and Ibrahim was wounded in her hands.
