A witness told Radio Dabanga that Younus Jaqoob Abdel Mawala and his family were returning through the Pellja Valley, near Wadi Saleh in Central Darfur on Wednesday, from a day’s farming. At 6.30 pm, they were ambushed by a band of Abbala militiamen, who intended to rape Mawala’s daughters.

When he confronted them to protect his daughters, they shot him dead on the spot.

In a separate incident in the Qnaga Valley, three displaced people, including a woman, were shot and injured by militiamen.

A witness told Radio Dabanga that gunmen riding camels opened fire at ten am on Wednesday on Mariam Adam, Noordin Abdul, and Razak Abdullah Musa, when they were on their way to the valley to collect straw .They were taken to down to the Garsila hospital for treatment. The witness said that the gunmen also killed the donkeys that were carrying displaced.

Nyala

In the South Darfur capital of Nyala, the body of Mohammed Ibrahim Abbubakkar was found near to the railway, with a gunshot wound to the head. A relative told Radio Dabanga that people who live near to the scene heard shooting on Wednesday evening.
