High winds and torrential rains that swept through Mukjar and Bindisi localities in Central Darfur, and Foro Baranga in West Darfur, destroyed several homes, blew-off rooves, and caused flooding over the past few days.

Speaking to Radio Dabanga from Foro Baranga, a caller said that “the heavy rains accompanied by four hours of high winds led to the destruction of dozens of houses. Rooves have been blown-off and trees uprooted. Hundreds of families have been displaced and are now in the open without shelter.”

He said the heavy rains led to flooding and runoff in Azoum, Foro Baranga, and Tendi valleys. The rains also destroyed dozens of houses in the localities of Mukjar, Bindisi and Foro Baranga.
