Darfur: Girl, four women raped by militiamen
Four women were raped in Nierteti locality in Central Darfur on Thursday, and robbed of their money. A girl was raped after gunmen attacked her family in Kass in South Darfur.
Five militiamen on camels attacked a group of about ten women who were returning from shopping in Nierteti. They seized four of the women and raped them at gunpoint, a witness reported to Radio Dabanga.
Two of the victims sustained injuries. The witness said that the victims have reported the incident to the police in Nierteti.
A schoolgirl at the age of 14 was raped in Tonj area, south of Kass in South Darfur on Thursday evening. Militiamen raped her for hours, according to a relative of the girl speaking to Radio Dabanga.
The girl, in the eighth grade of basic school, was farming with her family at the time of the attack, when the attackers grabbed her.
“People panicked when they retrieved her. She was thrown in one of the creeks and bleeding heavily. She was passed out when people moved her to a health centre in her village.”
