Darfur deluge kills woman, child, livestock

A woman and her four-year-old child have reportedly been killed when a flash flood swept through several villages in Darfur’s East Jebel Marra following heavy rains on Wednesday evening. The rains reportedly fell in the Shangil Tobaya area, across the border in the state of North Darfur. This resulted in flash floods in lower-lying areas. Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that Mariam Mohamed Abdulrahim and her child died in the vicinity of Delma in the Dubbo Al Omda area of the locality. “The floods swept through several villages causing extensive damage to citizens’ homes and property. It also killed 25 head of livestock,” sources reported.
