Contradicting reports about return of North Darfuri refugees

According to the North Darfur government, more than 30,000 Darfuri refugees have returned from eastern Chad to Um Baru and Karnoi localities in the western part of the state.
Acting governor, Adam Mohamed Hamed El Nahla told reporters in the state capital of El Fasher on Thursday that the North Darfur government is cooperating with the UNHCR, the Darfur Regional Authority, and the governmental Humanitarian Affairs Commission to facilitate the return of the Darfuri refugees from eastern Chad. He said that more than 30,000 people have returned to Um Baru and Karnoi.
Member of parliament for Um Baru and Karnoi constituencies, Mohamed Digeish, however, strongly denied the return of thousands of refugees from Chad to North Darfur.
He told Radio Dabanga that some 100 refugee families arrived from Chad, and are currently camping in the area of El Hilaliya in Karnoi locality.
