President Omar al Bashir will not attend the IGAD summit in Nairobi on next Tuesday. The foreign minister Deng Alor said that the president apologized because he is occupied by the election campaign. The summit is aimed at assessing the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) signed five years ago by the National Congress Party (NCP) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM). Kenya is a signatory to the Charter of the Rome Statute which establised the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.
