Arrest of 60 Sudanese dignitaries condemned: SPLM-N

Approximately 60 prominent Sudanese Peoples’ Liberation Movement –North (SPLM-N) dignitaries have been arrested by Sudanese security services.The campaign is apparently a reaction to the current hostilities with the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) forces in Kordofan, Darfur and Blue Nile states, rebels say.The detainees include Hamid Ahmed Hamid (Hamid Harka), secretary of media affairs for the movement in North Kordofan; Mohammed El-Sadiq El-Mahdi, secretary of political affairs in South Darfur; Tariq Mahasi, secretary-general in Al Jazeera state; Musa Jojo, secretary in Khartoum state; Mohamed Mahmoud Al Awdah, the secretary of political affairs in Dongola of the Northern State; and Hanan Ali Mohammed Khalil, a member of the Khartoum liberation council. The SPLM-N condemned the arrests in a statement, demanding the immediate release of the detainees, and holding the government responsible for their wellbeing.
