Army claims to chase out SLM from South Darfur border

The Sudanese army claims it has chased out Sudan People Liberation Army forces and its Darfuri rebel groups led by Ibrahim, Minawi and Abdul Wahid from the border areas in South Darfur. In a statement army spokesman Al Sawarmi Khaled Saad said the army regained control of Kafan Debi and Kafiye Kenjii after fierce battles with the Sudan Liberation Movement factions led by Minawi and Abdul Wahid entered Gereida on Tuesday. He added that the movements had confronted them, but said they drove them out and are still chasing them around the area. He also said the army caused heavy losses on the rebel groups and are still assessing the damage. However Adam Salih Ab Bakr, military spokesman for the SLM-MM told Radio Dabanga that Sudan Revolutionary Front forces are not present or currently fighting with the army in Kafan Debi or Kafiye Kenjii.He said the Front has nothing to do with these areas that are conflict areas between Sudan and South Sudan.
