Agricultural fees increased in Eastern Sudan’s El Gedaref

Farmers in El Gedaref complain about increased agricultural fees and low sorghum prices.
“We will be compelled to limit our cultivation projects if the government insists on the fees’ increase,” farmer Hassan El Taher told Radio Dabanga.
El Taher further reported the farmers’ rejection of the sorghum crop prices set by the federal Ministry of Finance, announced by the Strategic Storage Administration of the Agricultural Bank.
He explained that the SDG500 ($81) price set for an ardeb [approx. 190 kg] of sorghum does not cover the production costs.
