Sudanese Air Force Antonov and MiG aircraft have continued to bomb and strafe residential areas in the Nuba Mountains in South Kordofan for the third day in a row.

In a statement to Radio Dabanga, the military spokesman for the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, says that on Monday, an Antonov attacked a residential area in Hieban town with four high-explosive barrel bombs.

The raid wounded two civilians, Musa Kona (22) and Samia Adam (21).

Lodi states that yesterday, a MiG jet fighter launched two bombs against the town of Kauda, and another two on Heiban.  “No casualties were reported, but the bombing caused terror and fear among the civilians.”

Today, an Antonov dropped a total of 24 bombs on Hajar-Bago, Urru and Hieban in an attack that lasted from 7am to 9am. Lodi could not yet give any details of casualties in this latest attack.

As previously reported by Radio Dabanga, on Sunday, two Sudanese Air Force MiG fighters attacked residential areas within Heiban town with four bombs that killed six children, three of them from one family.
