Abu Shouk residents angry at new WFP distribution lists

Abu Shouk camp residents are angry at the results of the World Food Programme’s re-registration process, which reportedly wiped entire families from the new distribution lists and decreased rations to other families. Camp residents told Radio Dabanga they did not understand why rations are being reduced to families that need them. They complained that every family has had names wiped from the updated lists. They said if the situation is not solved soon, it will cause serious consequences. A camp leader said the new lists were given to them on Wednesday with around 74,000 registered and 7,000 names missing A female resident said her and her brother’s names had been dropped from the list and she was not sure how they would cope without reliance on food rations, as market prices were too high.
