Sulaiman Mukhtar Musa, the representative of Constituency 11 El Taweisha in the Legislative Council of North Darfur said that the fire broke out on Wednesday in one of the houses in the village. “The fire spread quickly and burned 26 houses. It also destroyed seeds, agricultural crops, and killed a number of cattle.

Musa pointed out that the village is inhabited by about 150 diplanced families who fled the Muhajiriye area over the past three years.

On Wednesday a fire broke out at Damirat El Sheikh Abdul Bagi of El Waha locality in North Darfur and destroyed four houses.

Adam Ishag Mannan of the area leadership said that the fire spread as there was no water to extinguish it. “The people do not even have enough drinking water,” he said.

Mannamn appealed to the government and organisations to address the water problem in the nomadic areas of El Waha locality and find a solution to the crisis.
