17 shops destroyed in South Darfur market inferno

A fire that swept through Abuja market in Gireida, South Darfur, has completely destroyed 17 shops.

The fire, which broke out at 7 am on Monday, raged until 10 pm. The shops, as well as their entire contents of goods and wares were consumed in the blaze. Traders are devastated, and collectively estimate the loss at SDG 8 million ($1.25 million).
