Wounded Ma’aliya slaps East Darfur commissioner

The commissioner of Adila locality in East Darfur was slapped by a Ma’aliya tribesman on Friday.
“Commissioner Mohamed Mahmoud El Shareef paid a visit to Ma’aliya patients at the Adila Hospital after the noon prayers on Friday,” an eyewitness reported to Radio Dabanga.
“When El Shareef was greeting the patients and their relatives, one of the injured suddenly slapped him. The others then cheered, condemning him and his government,” he said.

They were injured during fierce clashes that erupted last Monday between Rizeigat and Ma’aliya in East Darfur’s Abu Karinka locality, and led to the death of at least 100 tribesmen.

“When El Shareef was greeting the patients and their relatives, one of the injured suddenly slapped him. The others then cheered, condemning him and his government,” he said.
