White Nile state’s poor criticise Sudanese Zakat Chamber

A number of people in White Nile state denounced the wasting of money by the Zakat [Muslim alms] Chamber.
“The alms are raised to be distributed to the poor and needy,” an angry listener told Radio Dabanga from the capital of Rabak.
“The White Nile authorities held a major festival in the town on Monday. They mobilised a number of lorries loaded with food, invited Zakat beneficiaries, and photographed them,” he said.
“They then left with their cameras, without distributing anything to the poor, who said that they were very disappointed in Governor Abdelhamid Kasha who pledged to achieve justice in the state when he was appointed last May.”
