Electrical Equipment arrived in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, destined for a rural electrification project. The equipment is meant to provide electrical power to twenty villages situated along the Chadian-Sudanese border, numbering ten villages in each country. Such development projects have greater impetus now that Sudan and Chad agreed earlier this year to stop sponsoring rebel forces in each other’s territory. On the other hand the governor of West Darfur, Jaafar Abdel-Hakim,  asked the federal government to pay wages owed to state workers. He explained that in a meeting with President Omar Al Bashir they had discussed the financial difficulties of the state and the president expressed his willingness to support the state.
