UNHCR recognizes 600 refugees

Displaced Darfuris on the Tunisia-Libya border were given refugee statusThe United Nations Humanitarian Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) granted refugee status to 600 Darfuri refugees fleeing from Libya, sources told Radio Dabanga on Thursday.The refugees, who live in Shusha refugee camp on the Tunisian border, have been granted recognition by the UNHCR, sheikh Abrahim Wadnar at the Shusha camp told Radio Dabanga. “600 out of 1400 refugees in the camp have been recognized. Many of those who have received recognition have also been granted asylum in third countries such as Norway and Sweden. Some of them have already left for those countries,” he said.He added that the United States had also accepted a number of refugees from the Shusha camp on the Tunisian-Libya border.
