Two young women of the Nierteti camp for the displaced in Central Darfur were gang-raped by militiamen for a full day on Friday. Eight other women were injured.
Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a relative of one of the raped women reported that “government-backed Janjaweed on camels and horses on Friday militias assaulted a group of 13 displaced women and three children in the area of Kebe, north of the camp.
The gunmen seized two of the women, aged 15 and 17, at gunpoint, and raped them alternately for a full day. They severely beat and whipped the other women and the children, who sustained various injuries.
The assault was reported to the police. A Form 8, required for admission to a doctor, was obtained, and the raped and the injured women were transferred to the hospital of Nierteti.
