Two young women have drowned in water left after heavy rains and flash floods in Kutum locality in North Darfur on Friday.

A sheikh of Fata Boreo cap for the displaced told Radio Dabanga that the two young women, who were students at the higher secondary school, went to one of the ponds to wash clothes. One of the women got into difficulty and then the second one went in to attempt to rescue her friend. Unfortunately, they both drowned as a result.

Last week, two displaced men drowned in North Darfur after being washed away by floodwaters.

A witness told Radio Dabanga that the flood of the Bawa valley on Monday swept Saleh Abdallah Adam and Musa Ismael away while they were trying to cross the valley on their way from Kutum to Camp Kassab.
