Two young women were gang-raped by militiamen at the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) base near Deribat in East Jebel Marra on Monday.

A relative of the victims reported to Radio Dabanga that elements of the government militia ambushed the women at 11 am, when they were on their way to fetch water from a well in Kuro, north of Deribat.

“They took to their base in the area, and alternately raped them for a full day,” she said. “They were only released on Tuesday morning.”

She added that the victims are now being treated at their home with traditional medicines, as there is no health care available in the area. “They are both in a very bad mental and physical condition.”
