Two UNAMID vehicles carjacked in South Darfur capital

The UN-African Union Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) lost two vehicles on Tuesday, 6 July, in separate incidents. In the first incident, gunmen carjacked one of the mission’s traffic control vehicles near Nyala airport. Another vehicle belonging to the peacekeepers’ department of water and sanitation was carjacked near the peacekeepers’ main base in the state. Both vehicles were driven by international staff members, who were both released unharmed. The UN Mission disclosed these facts in a press statement issued yesterday.
