Two people die in West Darfur robbery

Two people were shot dead in in Kereinik locality, West Darfur, in an armed robbery on Wednesday evening. That same day, three Koran students in Central Darfur were stabbed by militiamen. One of the relatives of the deceased told Radio Dabanga that two gunmen opened fire at 6 pm on a Land Cruiser in the area of Mukjaja, with the purpose of looting it. They killed one passenger, Yahya Giwer. The driver managed to kill one of the gunmen while the other one fled. The listener reported that the residents in Mukjaja area remained inside their homes until Thursday, fearing attacks by the gunmen. He appealed to the authorities of El Geneina and Kereinek localities to intervene and protect the population from pro-government militiamen. Koran students stabbed Students of the Koran school of El Faki Hussein Adam Abdel Karim in Moro, south of Central Darfur’s Nierteti town, were beaten by militia elements on Wednesday. Three of the students were seriously injured as a result of stabs and lashes. A witness told Radio Dabanga that pro-government militiamen, riding on the backs of camels and horses, beat up the students who were working on farmlands at Moro. The three seriously wounded students were transferred to Nierteti hospital. They had been stabbed with a matchete. The source added that the gunmen looted the victims of SDG830 ($145), their three donkeys, luggage, food they were carrying, and farming tools.
