Two killed, five injured in armed robberies in Darfur

On Tuesday, two elements of Central Reserve Police were killed, and three others wounded in an attack in West Darfur. In South Darfur, two men were wounded during armed robberies. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a listener in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, reported that armed robbers on Tuesday night raided the site of the Central Reserve Police (known as Abu Tira) in the area of Sanya Dabi, 80km northeast of El Geneina. Two Abu Tira troops were killed, and three wounded. The robbers took weapons, ammunition, and three vehicles, and fled. In South Darfur, Ibrahim Sharafeldin Mohamed, owner of a mobile phone shop at El Salam camp for the displaced, was severely injured during an armed robbery. Gunmen raided his home on Tuesday morning and stole more than 20 mobile phones, Sheikh Mahjoub Tabaldiya of El Salam camp told Radio Dabanga. “The four robbers fired 11 shots at Mohamed. He was injured near his mouth. They beat him on his shoulder with a machete, and with rifle butts on all parts of his body, before they stole the mobile phones, and fled.”In Mershing locality, South Darfur, gunmen shot Mirghani Ibrahim Khalifa on Monday evening. He sustained injuries in his chest and legs. An eyewitness told Radio Dabanga that armed robbers raided a number of houses in El Sud El Aali district in the western part of Mershinq on Monday evening.
