The Commissioner of El Sarief Beni Hussein, Abdullah Hamdan, reports that gunmen attacked a commercial lorry on the road between El Sarief Beni Hussein and Kornoi, killed two people and stole the vehicle.

He said that a local rescue team managed to recover the vehicle which was found in one of the wadis.

Mohammed Ahmed Minawi Degaish, the independent MP of Kornoi, Um Baru and El Tina told Radio Dabanga that on their way back, the local rescue team attacked “a number of herders who had nothing to do with the incident” in the areas of Abuleha and Abu Gamra, detained 15 of them and subjected them to torture.

He said that one herder named Saleh Fadel Ali Mohammed Musa was tortured to death.

“The local rescue team handed over the dead herder to the Commissioner of Saraf Umra, while 15 hostages were taken to an unknown destination.

Witnesses said that the situation is very tense in the region.

They called on the authorities to intervene to contain the situation so that no tribal dispute breaks out in the area.
