Two Darfuri students disappear at Kassala University

Two students, Mubarak Hamid and Elfadil Abdul Rahman, disappeared on their way from their dormitory to the Faculty of Agriculture of Kassala University. This happened in the city of New Halfa on Monday.

Two students, Mubarak Hamid and Elfadil Abdul Rahman, disappeared on their way from their dormitory to the Faculty of Agriculture of Kassala University. This happened in the city of New Halfa on Monday. Activists in the university told Radio Dabanga that Mubarak, from Darfur, had been targeted in a shooting on Saturday by an armed group on board of four Land Cruisers. He sustained injuries on his leg and hand. As for El Fadil, he had been subpoenaed by the court of New Halfa via the university administration. The subpoena regarded a complaint filed against him under article 139 from the Sudanese criminal law.

After the disappearances, students presented a memo to the university administration demanding them to search for their two missing colleagues.

From its side, the administration of the Faculty of Agriculture, Kassala University, confirmed the absence of the two Darfuri students Mubarak Hamid and Elfadil Abdul Rahman. The secretary of the dean of the faculty, Ashraf Adbul Gadir told Radio Dabanga that the students have presented a memo to the administration which, in turn, informed the police and District Attorney about the absence of the two students.
