Two children die in explosion, North Darfur

Two children were killed in the area of Khazan Tunjur, North Darfur, on Wednesday, when unexploded ordnance (UXO), they had found, detonated.

Two children were killed in the area of Khazan Tunjur, North Darfur, on Wednesday, when unexploded ordnance (UXO) detonated.

Osman Abdeljabar (9) and Samia Yahya Adam (8) of Sirri village, east of Tabit, found an UXO, while they were grazing their livestock in the neighbourhood.

“The device exploded when they played with it,” a relative of Adam told Dabanga. “They died instantly.”

An explosives expert called via Dabanga on “all the people in Darfur, especially those in East Jebel Marra, Kutum, Um Baru, and Karnoi localities in North Darfur, not to touch or pick up any unknown object they find on the ground”.
