Tribal tensions close Central Darfur Mukjar market

The market of Mukjar in Central Darfur closed on Monday owing to tribal tensions after a Abbala omda was attacked last week.
Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a market vendor said that a member of the Salamat tribe shot Omda Juma El Tahir Ghabasha Abbala at the Mukjar market on Friday.
“The omda suffered minor injuries, but the harm was done. In response, Abbala tribesman abducted a number of Salamat, and large crowds of tribesmen from both sides gathered in the neighbourhood,” he reported.
The vendor added that the market would remain closed “until the two parties have withdrawn their militants”.
