Tribal clashes kill dozens in Sudan’s West Kordofan

Dozens have died and many more wounded in Dibab locality in West Kordofan on Wednesday and Thursday in violent clashes between members of the Misseriya tribe. The clashes began with a dispute over the ownership of the land. Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that the clashes erupted between Awlad Omran and Faleita in the area of Um Baroun on Wednesday. They led to the death of 12 people from both sides, seven of the Awlad Omran and five Faleita. The witnesses said that the battles continued more intensely on Thursday morning. They included areas Um Baroun, El Dabkar, Yama, and Kilo 50. Speaking to Radio Dabanga from Dibab on Thursday evening, the witnesses said that all of the dead and wounded are not yet accounted for because the battles between the two sides are still ongoing.
