July 25 - 2012 JEBEL AMER

At least four people were killed and two others were injured yesterday during a tribal clash in Jebel Amer, Serif Beni Hussein, in North Darfur. The two tribes involved claim control of the gold mine in the area.

Eye witnesses told Radio Dabanga the clashes happened between the tribes Rezaigate and Beni Hussein. They said the fighting left two people dead from each tribe and two injured from Beni Hussein. Witnesses also reported that government forces from Kutum and Kabkabiya (North Darfur) moved the disputing parties to an area located between both tribes to stop the fighting. They also explained that the situation can deteriorate again at any time.
