Three killed in Central Darfur market clash

Three people were killed by gunfire when violent clashes erupted between two militia groups inside the weekly market of Nierteti, Central Darfur, on Thursday afternoon. The fight resulted in the closure of the market and the flight of shoppers and traders. Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that merchant Adam Omar Mohamed Muhajir (45), a displaced person from the northern camp, and the displaced Salima Adam Isa Adam (18) from Mara village, were killed during the clash at 3.30 pm. Militia member Ibrahim Mohamed Hamdan was also killed. A man named Ibrahim was wounded. The witnesses reported that the wounded were taken to Zalingei hospital for treatment. Stray bullet hits girl In Zalingei, 11-year old and displaced girl Maria Haroun was shot in the chest on Wednesday by a group of militias stationed outside of camp Hamidiya in Zalingei locality. The incident occurred at 10 pm, the coordinator of the Central Darfur camps reported, as the group fired their guns at the sky above the camp. He explained that the girl was transported to a hospital in Zalingei on the same day, where she had an operation on Thursday morning to remove the bullet. The coordinator attributed the reason behind the repeated gunfire above the camp “to spark more terror and fear in the hearts of the displaced so as to force them leave the camps”. Stray bullet hits girl

In Zalingei, 11-year old and displaced girl Maria Haroun was shot in the chest on Wednesday by a group of militias stationed outside of camp Hamidiya in Zalingei locality. The incident occurred at 10 pm, the coordinator of the Central Darfur camps reported, as the group fired their guns at the sky above the camp.

He explained that the girl was transported to a hospital in Zalingei on the same day, where she had an operation on Thursday morning to remove the bullet.
