Three die as Electoral Commission vehicle ambushed in South Darfur

Four people were shot dead in two separate incidents in South Darfur on Sunday. “Government-backed militiamen on camels ambushed a vehicle belonging to the National Electoral Commission that was on its way from Nyala to Buram,” an eyewitness told Radio Dabanga. “On the road between Ghaderi and Karkash, the Janjaweed fired at the vehicle. Fadul Ali Suleiman, a pedagogical advisor working in El Radoom locality and member of the Electoral Commission, Adam Hamed, of the Popular Defence Forces, and Saker Rahmatallah, an army soldier, were killed instantly,” the source said. “The other passengers were injured. One of them had to be transferred to the hospital of Buram.” The witness said that the attackers took everything of value from the vehicles and its passengers. “They tore all the documents of the Commission.” Farmer killed In the area of Rahad Abyad in South Darfur’s El Salam locality, armed robbers shot dead a farmer, after which they robbed him of his belongings, a fellow farmer informed Radio Dabanga.
