Three troops were killed and seven others wounded in a clash between army and militia forces on the Garsila-Foro Baranga road in Central Darfur on Monday.

“Army and Border Guards stationed in Garsila clashed with members of a government militia in the area of Kerdol,” a listener reported to Dabanga.

“The militiamen had ambushed a commercial lorry en route from Omdurman to Foro Baranga, and when the government forces stopped them, fighting broke out. Three army troops were killed, including an army officer called Daoud. Seven others were injured. The militiamen seized two military Land Cruisers.”

The source said that the injured were transferred to Zalingei Hospital on Tuesday. “Some of them died of their wounds in the hospital.”

He added that government forces from Zalingei and El Geneina hunted-down the militiamen and retrieved the Land Cruisers.
