Three children drowned to death at Abu Nabag Camp for Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad on Tuesday, following three consecutive days of heavy rains, according to a refugee who spoke to Radio Dabanga from the camp. She said that rain water accumulated inside the camp and the three children were caught in pits that filled with water.
The heavy rain storms have also destroyed dozens of homes in Abu Nabag. A source in the camp said that hundreds of refugees are in the open, without shelter for them. They are in need of blankets and relief after the damage caused by the rain at the camp.
