Tech woes take South Darfur’s Radio Nyala off-air

Radio Nyala has been off-air for two weeks because of technical problems.
The Radio and Television Corporation has failed to bring in spare parts needed for the repair of the South Darfur broadcasting station, a state official told Radio Dabanga.
He further noted that Radio Nyala and other South Darfur radio stations have failed to compete with other broadcasting stations covering the news in the region, “especially Radio Dabanga”.
Dr Mousa Abdelkarim, the Minister of Culture and Information of the Darfur Regional Authority, attributed the problems of Radio Nyala to the transfer of radio stations from Khartoum to the states. He added that the South Darfur authorities have taken measures for the maintenance of the station.
