Teachers enter open-ended strike in South Darfur

More than 2000 teachers from across South Darfur entered an open-ended sit-in on Wednesday to protests against non-payment of six months worth of salaries. ‘The protest is about salaries that are owed since September last year although the government has repeatedly promised to settle this issue. We will stay here exercising our right to protest until our outstanding salaries are paid,’ said Professor Ibrahim Ismail from Nyala. The sit-in was held outside the ministry of education in Nyala.
