Sudanese VP proposes ‘remedial action plan’ for Darfur

Dr El Haj Adam Yousif, Second Vice President of Sudan, has called for the development of a “remedial action plan” for the resolution of the tribal conflicts in the five states of Darfur. During a visit by government representatives from the five Darfur states to his residence on Thursday evening, Yousif called for a “remedial action plan”, that should be backed by members of the National Parliament, the States’ Legislative Councils and the Darfur Regional Authority in addition to civil society organisations, in order to reach a better understanding about the best way to resolve the various conflicts in Darfur. The Vice President stressed the need of supporting the efforts already being done at the local level and to create a focal point under the auspices of the National Parliament, parliamentary bodies and all states’ legislative councils. A group representing the people of Darfur is to be elected for the resolution of tribal conflicts. “They should sit with the conflicting parties in every Darfur state in order to reach a solution to the problem by the year 2015.” File photo: Dr El Haj Adam Yousif, Second Vice President of Sudan
