Sudanese soldier killed, displaced robbed in Darfur

Militiamen shot dead an army soldier near Zalingei, capital of Central Darfur, on Wednesday. In North Darfur’s Saraf Umra, a displaced man was robbed in front of the police.
The coordinator of the Zalingei camps told Radio Dabanga that at about 6 pm on Wednesday, soldier Ibrahim Shogar was shot dead some two kilometres from Zalingei, at the eastern gate.

The coordinator of the Zalingei camps told Radio Dabanga that at about 6 pm on Wednesday, soldier Ibrahim Shogar was shot dead some two kilometres from Zalingei, at the eastern gate.

“After the incident, the militiamen started shooting around them, sparking terror and panic among the people,” he added.

In Saraf Umra, three gunmen intercepted Ismail Yahya Hassan, while he was on his way home to Jebel camp for the displaced.  

“They robbed him of SDG500 ($84) at gunpoint, in front of a number of policemen,” a camp elder reported. “They did not intervene however.”
