Sudanese in CAR in ‘dangerous situation’: State Minister

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned about the “dangerous situation” in Central African Republic (CAR). The aircraft that would evacuate a number of Sudanese nationals from Bangui on Monday has been aborted. The State Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kamal El Din Ismail, in a National Parliament session on Monday acknowledged that Sudanese venues and vehicles in the capital of Bangui have been attacked. The ambassador’s vehicle was besieged, as well as offices and houses of the embassy’s staff. Some employees were wounded. The minister said more than 300 Sudanese have found refuge in the house of the military attaché of the Sudanese Embassy in Bangui. Ismail confirmed that the evacuation of 150 Sudanese nationals scheduled to leave from Bangui airport on Monday morning with an aircraft belonging to the joint French-African forces, was aborted. He advised the “people involved” to charter aircrafts in order to evacuate the stranded Sudanese. He acknowledged the difficulty to get an idea about the size of the Sudanese community in CAR. Member of Parliament, Ahmed Adam Tijani, noted on behalf of the Darfur deputies, that the insecurity in CAR threatens large numbers of Sudanese working in diamond-mining, and herders, with and more than one million and five hundred thousand head of cattle in CAR.
