Sudanese Civil Society demands stop of arbitrary detentions

The Confederation of Sudanese Civil Society Organisations demands from the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) to stop the arbitrary detentions of activists.
In a statement on Wednesday, the allied civil society organisations further urge the immediate release of the political detainees, and called on the authorities to investigate “the grave violations against the rights of these detainees”.
The Confederation strongly condemns “the continuation of the repressive and arbitrary approach pursued by the government”, represented by the detention of activists Khalafallah Afif, Mustafa Adam, and Medhat Afifeldin, without any legal justification for a period of nearly two months.
The detainees should have been charged and taken to a fair trial within two weeks after they were held, the statement reads.
