Three people were injured in a clash between army soldiers and militant herdsmen near Khazan Tunjur on Friday.

The fighting took place in the area of Masal, 5 km north of Khazan Tunjur, after the herders had forced a group of women to provide water to their camels.

“The women were collecting water, when those Janjaweed ordered them at gunpoint to water their 500 camels,” an eyewitness told Radio Dabanga.

“After the incident was reported to the army base in the area, army troops were sent to capture the culprits. In the ensuing gunfight, three people were wounded,” he said.
