On Monday, interns and deputy specialists of El Nahud Hospital in West Kordofan continued their strike from work in protest against the non-payment of financial incentives by the Finance Ministry of the state.

On Monday a medical staff member in El Nahud told Radio Dabanga that the strike is still going on, every day of the week except Sunday.

He said the doctors have conditioned that they will return to work if they receive all arrears and incentives, which have been stopped for about four months by the Ministry of Finance of the state. They also demand a stop to the deterioration of the environment of the hospital.

Overcrowding

The staffer pointed to the overcrowding of patients in the hospital as a result of the strike, especially the children's wards. Some cases have had to be transferred to El Obeid hospital outside the state, and the use of Foula specialist hospital in some critical situations.

He said the hospital was locked directly after the opening during the President’s last visit to the state because of lack of medical staff and medical equipment, some of which was stolen.

He explained that El Nahud hospital administration transferred the patients to the new hospital during the opening of the hospital, and sent them back after the opening. Now there is no one in the hospital except the guard.
