The delegation, consisting of Malik Agar, president of the SRF, five vice presidents, Dr Jibril Ibrahim, the leader of the Justice and Equality Movement, Abdel Wahid of the Sudan Liberation Movement-AW, Minni Minawi, leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement-MM, Nasreddin El Mahdi of the National Umma Party and El Tom Haju of the Democratic Unionist Party, in addition to the SRF Foreign Relations Secretary, Yasir Arman, will start their official meetings in Berlin on Tuesday. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Dr Jibril Ibrahim described the meetings in France as successful. He noted that in Germany the SRF delegation will meet multiple parties. Ibrahim hopes that the European tour will “raise a broad support for toppling the Khartoum regime”.He informed Radio Dabanga that the SRF leaders will brief the German officials on the deteriorating humanitarian and economic situation in Sudan as well as on the human rights violations. They also plan to discuss the SRF vision on a “comprehensive solution for war-torn Sudan, which can only be realised by an alternative regime”.The delegation will also brief the German officials on the SRF’s planned arrangements for “the interim period” after the regime has been toppled. During the interim period, a government will be formed by representatives of all political opposition forces and civil society organisations. This interim government will pave the way for an elected government. ‘Support to rebels’The ruling National Congress Party (NCP) has mocked the SRF’s visit to Europe, by saying that the rebel leaders went to beg for support from European countries after the support from South Sudan dried up.In a press statement on Sunday, spokesman for the NCP Yasir Yusif, condemned the countries that received the delegation and accused them of trying to destabilise Sudan by indirectly encouraging the SRF leaders to continue fighting the Sudanese government. Yusif called on the international community to concentrate on achieving peace instead of continuing the wars in Sudan by providing support to rebel leaders. Yasir Arman, the SRF Foreign Relations Secretary, denied to Radio Dabanga “the rumours” about a European initiative for a dialogue with the Sudanese regime. He described it as “an NCP initiative and not of the European Union.Arman stressed that the SRF delegation is visiting Europe in order to explain that the “government of consensus” the NCP is attempting to establish, is based on “false pretences”. “The main purpose of our visit is to enlighten the Europeans about what is really happening in Sudan and to create a better environment for a positive regime change,” he said The SRF, officially founded in November 2011, is a coalition of Sudanese armed factions opposed to the government led by President Omar Al Bashir. On 2 October 2013, the United Popular Front, a coalition of eastern Sudanese factions, joined the SRF.
