Sudan opposition party member: New Dawn attacks due to ‘fears’

The assistant secretary general of the Sudanese opposition Popular Congress Party (PCP) declared that Khartoum’s attacks on the New Dawn Charter are due to “fears” as various forces are joining it. Dr. Ali El-Haj Mohamed, in an interview with Radio Dabanga on Tuesday, added the attacks on the Charter “will make its signatories hold on to it strongly and further develop the document”. According to him, the Charter is still considered a roadmap draft that would lead to dialogue between different entities. He suggested to Radio Dabanga that the recent meeting between political forces and the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) in Kampala about the Charter was a move in the right direction. “The New Dawn Charter is only a first step in joining political forces”, he said.
